2018 PEARSON VUE – GED Test Information

Free classes available to prepare you for the GED Test!

Registration and Scheduling:    GED testers can register for the GED Test online at www.ged.com.  If you have questions or problems registering, please call 1-877-EXAM-GED or 1-877-392-6433. The GED Test has four test modules.  Testers are not required to take all the test modules in one exam appointment.  Testers can choose to take the test modules in several appointments. Testers must reschedule and cancel test appointments via the website at least 24 hours before the appointment.  Testers who attempt to reschedule or cancel their appointment less than 24 hours from their appointment will forfeit their test fees.

Test Scoring Info:   The GED test has a passing score of 145 for each subject.  Testers will need to score at least 145 on each subject and a total score of 580 or higher on the four test modules in order to receive a GED diploma.  The scoring per test subject breaks down as follows:

*Below Passing 100-144

*Passing Score 145-200

*GED College Ready performance level 165-174

*GED College Ready + Credit level 175-200

Retesting:  Testers who don’t pass a subject can retest that subject 2 times for $10 per retest within 12 months of the initial test.  Testers can test 3 times on the same subject without waiting.  After the 3rd attempt, they must wait 60 days before trying again.

Special Accommodations for Disabilities:  It is recommended that testers start this procedure at least 60 days in advance of their desired test date.  Qualified professionals must submit specific documentation. Procedures are described at www.gedtestingservice.com/accommodations.

GED Ready, the official practice test is also available on the MyGED portal. More than 95% of GED Ready testers who scored in “Likely to Pass” score range passed that subject on the actual GED test.  In addition to GED Ready, it is important that testers experience the computer calculator and new item types before testing.  These tutorials and other important resources are available for testers signed up for My GED at www.ged.com.

 

HiSET Paper Testing Info

Paper HiSET Testing is available. Check http://hiset.ets.org/ for the most accurate testing information.

Registration and Scheduling:   HiSET testers can register for the HiSET (the High School Equivalency Test) online at www.hiset.ets.org.  You can pay by debit or credit card, PayPal, eCheck or Visa, MasterCard or American Express prepaid gift card.  If you have questions or problems registering, please call ETS Customer Service at 1-855-MyHiSET or 1-855-694-4738. The HiSET Test has five test subjects.  Testers are not required to take all the tests in one exam appointment.  Testers can choose to take the test subjects in several appointments. Test Scoring Info:   Each of the five subtests in the HiSET battery is scored on a scale of 1-20.  In order to pass you must do all three of the following:

* Achieve a score of at least 8 out of 20 points on each of the five subtests

* Score at least 2 out of 6 on the essay portion of the writing test

* Have a total combined score on all five tests of at least 45

College & Career Readiness:  Score at least 15 out of 20 on a subtest.  For the Language Arts-               Writing you need a score of at least 15 with a score of 4 on the essay.

Scores:   Available through your My HiSET account in five to ten days for paper testing results.

Retesting:  Testers who don’t pass a subject can retest that subject 2 times for $8 per retest within 12 months of the initial test.  Testers can test 3 times on the same subject without waiting.  After the 3rd attempt, they must wait until 2018 before trying that subject again and pay $18.
