Become a Trained Adult Literacy Volunteer Tutor Online!

At ROE Adult Literacy, we continue to search for Volunteer Adult Literacy Tutors to assist adult learners learn to read as well as learn other essential life skills. Though we have been limited in our ability to provide our normal face-to-face workshop recently due to restrictions because of Covid-19, the need for trained tutors has not lessened. That being said, when this pandemic finally subsides, we will need even more volunteers to help. Please consider volunteering.

The Office of the Secretary of State has developed a 13-lesson online training that may be used to qualify you to be a trained tutor. This training is a substitute for the training that our program, ROE Adult Literacy, provides. This is of no cost to you, and all tutoring materials are provided free through our program. You may find the training modules at the following site: https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/library/literacy/oltt/home.html

Once you have completed the modules successfully, please contact our office by emailing jmeisinger@peoriaroe.org and we will complete business from our end to get you started with an adult learner. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, contact us at jmeisinger@peoriaroe.org. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

*This program was made possible by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds designated for literacy.
